Wennäkoski began her career as a composer by composing for radio plays and short films. A major landmark on her career was a concert at the Musica Nova Helsinki festival in 1999.
„Dílo Lotty Annukky Wennäkoski je rytmicky velmi nápadité, instrumentačně barevné, většinou atonální a využívající všechny možné techniky hry na smyčcové nástroje.“
The lyrical title of Lotta Wennäkoski’s Mellan natt och regn (Swedish for “Between Night and Rain”) derives from a poem by Tua Forsström (b. 1947), and the music has both rainy and nocturnal moods.
For the work valo joka (“the light, which”) both the poem by Saila Susiluoto and the composition by Lotta Wennäkoski were commissioned at the same time, and thus they were created partly overlapping and influencing each other.
„Blow Your House Down“ Nezavírejme se před světem a bolestí, nebuďme vůči všemu imunní a nestavme kolem sebe vysoké zdi. Tak by se dalo popsat motto koncertu…
