Valencia was the eighth city to be designated World Design Capital 2022 (WDC 2022). Situated on the south-east coast of Spain, this culturally vibrant city is a major port located on the Mediterranean with a long-standing legacy of design.
World Design Capital (WDC), designated every two years by the World Design Organization (WDO), recognizes cities for their effective use of design to drive economic, social, cultural, and environmental development.
WDC Helsinki 2012 strengthened citizens’ understanding of the value of design, increased interest in urban development, and enhanced Finland’s reputation as a design nation on the international stage.
Every two years, WDO launches a call inviting cities from around the globe to bid for World Design Capital and showcase how their region is effectively leveraging design as a tool for economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress.
It is owned and operated by Fox Television Stations alongside Fox outlet WTTG (channel 5). WDCA and WTTG share studios on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland, and are broadcast on the same multiplex from a tower on River Road nearby.
