David Oppenheim pocházel z rodiny moravského rabína. Jeho otec Bernhard Jissachar Baer Oppenheim (1790–1859), byl rabínem v Ivančicích na jižní Moravě.
David Oppenheim (1664 – 12 September 1736) was the chief rabbi of Nikolsburg in 1691 and later of Prague. [1 ] His book collection constitutes an important part of the Hebrew section of the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
David Ernst Oppenheim was born in Brünn, Habsburg Moravia, in Austria-Hungary, to a Jewish family, and educated at the University of Vienna where he studied philology and archaeology, graduating in 1904.
Oppenheim is from Calabasas, California. He started playing live cash games at 16, underaged, at the Bicycle Card Club (now known as the famous Bicycle Casino).
