Ephemerellainvaria, the sulphur dun, is a species of spiny crawler mayfly in the family Ephemerellidae. [1 ] [2 ] [3 ] [4 ] It is found in southeastern and northern Canada and the eastern United States. [1 ] [5 ]
Sulphur mayfly hatch covers both the Ephemerella dorothea dorothea, called Pale Evening Dun and Ephemerella invaria, both occur on many Wisconsin trout streams offering some terrific fly fishing
Ephemerella subvaria starts the season in April, with other species hatching continuously until October. Due to their manner of emergence, most species are extremely vulnerable to the trout.
