10. 10. 2007Němec Gerhard Ertl dostal ve středu Nobelovu cenu za chemii. Oceněn byl za studium katalytických jevů. Rozhodla o tom švédská královská akademie. Cena je spojena s odměnou 1,1 miliónu eur.
