Thomas Ruffin Gray (1800 – August 23, 1845) was an American attorney, diplomat, and author. He represented several enslaved people during their trials in the wake of Nat Turner's Rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia in 1831.
Již od té doby zachovával svůj životní styl – studium vědních oborů včetně přírodovědných, literární práce v ústraní a společenský styk pouze s omezeným kruhem přátel, se kterými sdílel odpor k dobovým hýřivým zábavám.
Thomas Gray (26 December 1716 – 30 July 1771) was an English poet, letter-writer, and classical scholar at Cambridge University, being a fellow first of Peterhouse then of Pembroke College.
Thomas Gray, C.B. (1832–1890), entered into the British Board of Trade as a boy clerk in 1851, becoming Head of the Maritime Department by 1869, a position he held for over 20 years, becoming deeply interested in everything related to ships…
Gray was eventually forced to publish the work on 15 February 1751 in order to preempt a magazine publisher from printing an unlicensed copy of the poem.
Whilst Gray's poetic output was limited for various reasons, including an extremely self-critical attitude towards his own work, he remains a figure of great importance in eighteenth-century literature.
