Thomas NelsonJr. (December 26, 1738 – January 4, 1789) was a Founding Father of the United States, general in the Revolutionary War, member of the Continental Congress, and a Virginia planter.
Thomas Nelson was born at Yorktown, Virginia, to William and Elizabeth Burwell Nelson. He was thus not named for his father, but “Junior” was added to distinguish him from his uncle, Thomas Nelson, who also lived in Yorktown.
Thomas Nelson is a publishing firm that began in West Bow, Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1798, as the namesake of its founder. It is a subsidiary of HarperCollins, the publishing unit of News Corp.
